Description: Prayer flags at the Potala Palace, the Dalai Lama's former residence in Lhasa, Tibet. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was built incorporating a smaller palace structure originally built on the site by Emperor Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century. It took its current form in the mid-1600's during the reign of the fifth Dalai Lama when the Red Palace was built, and later in the same century when the "white Palace" was completed.
